Sister M. Lakana Pauline Sukhsuchit RGS

My name is Sister Lakana, and I have been a Sister with The Good Shepherd ministries for 35 years.  I am from Bangkok, and I have spent the past 10 years in Phuket overseeing all projects, establishing and building the Learning Centre, and creating a safe, caring community for migrant families.  I have always loved working and believe that “If you love what you do, you never waste a day in your life.”

In my free time, I like to learn new things, experiment, take risks, and take advantage of any opportunity that comes my way.  I am curious about new things and can’t stand doing the same thing repeatedly.  What I love most about my job is meeting students when they are very young and watching them take advantage of the opportunity to learn and create a full life for themselves.  Seeing their potential gives me hope for the future.

The thing I’m most proud of is becoming a Good Shepherd Sister.  It’s a role that has taught me to open my heart and mind to other people’s experiences and share in life’s challenges with joy and compassion.  I am proud that I am ambitious and do not back down from a challenge.  I love the community we’ve created at The Good Shepherd Phuket and can’t thank you enough for being a part of it.

Motto: “Giving is always better than receiving 💛”

I started work at Good Shepherd Phuket in September 2016 as a volunteer when my aunt introduced me to Sister Lakana. At that time, I was a Thai language teacher. After one year, Sister accepted me at the Center as a staff member.

I am impressed with Sister’s broad thinking and her planning skills to ensure the center can survive. Sister helps all the staff increase their potential while developing themselves. As a result, the organization has a qualified and efficient image.

At Good Shepherd, everything is done in the best interest of the child, and we are able to help children, women and all in need through acts of faith and love.

But what is most important is to have good colleagues who understand each other like family and are sincere.

Motto: “Giving is better than receiving.”

I have worked at Good Shepherd since 2011.

I was impressed of the Good Shepherd foundation’s ability to work as a team to help society and provide social work. I wanted to be a Sister after graduating from high school. So, in 2010, I came to Phuket to help the faculty. After working for a while and I realised being a sister requires a lot of leadership.

I have been given many oppertunities to learn, practice and improve myself. I am impressed with our team’s efforts to help society.

"One person is worth more than the whole world" is a very touching statement. It has inspired me to work and help those at the margins of society, such as vulnerable children and women who have suffered.

I'm happy every time I see a smile.

Miss Tin Moe Oo

I am the new English Teacher at the Good Shepherd Learning Center.

I came to Thailand with my parents, and studied at the Good Shepherd Learning Center from 2011 to 2014. After, with the help of the Good Shepherd Learning Center, I continued my studies in Myanmar.

In 2020, two months before my class 10 exam, I had to take a year off due to Covid, but when I was ready to take my exam in 2022, there was an emergency in Myanmar.

Until now, due to the bad situation in Myanmar, I was not allowed to continue attending school. As an alternative, I worked in a private office for 5 months.

When I thought about my life, there was no progress in Myanmar, so I contacted the Sister of the Good Shepherd school in Thailand and had the opportunity to teach English to the students at that school.
