Healthcare is a basic human right…..
The Health Care Program started with a complete meal every day, a weekly health-check and, of course, treatment when they need it.
Monthly community nursing , medicine, case assistance, doctor referrals, health counselling, health education and assistance are provided to patients especially pregnant women and children with serious diseases. Training in First Aid, Human Rights, HIV/AIDS, contagious diseases and environmental sustainability is given to members of the community.
This program aims to build trust and friendship in an environment of co-operation with migrants. This raises awareness of the services available to them and assists them in accessing the services. This builds stronger communities, harmony and encourages mutual respect and understanding of cultural differences. Workshops, cultural and social activities and seminars are organised to inform and mobilise the community.
We also provide counselling during the Community Nursing and during the weekly home visits. We talk with the people about their situation and the trauma they have experienced and, if we cannot help, we will refer them to others who can. We currently provide counselling services in 5 communities and to our children's families whenever they need it.
The Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program provides powdered milk for poor and malnourished children who are underweight; staple foods and vitamin supplements to low and no income families and especially to TB/HIV infected patients. During COVID 19 - this program was greatly expanded with an emergency response that fed thousands of families both migrants and local thai families.
